We do not have a product that is labeled for Cheyletiella mites specifically, but we do have a product that can be used for several types of mites including biting mites. Tengard SFR is labeled for mange mites and scabies mites and can be used indoors and outdoors and on certain types of animals including dogs (do NOT use on cats). We recommend that animals are seen by a veterinarian and treated according to the veterinarian's instructions.

Due to the nature of this type of flea, the attached female fleas may have to be picked off of the birds or if the fleas are too numerous a flea product that is labeled for use on poultry may be used. The fleas that are infesting the henhouse itself (juveniles, adults, eggs and pupae) should be treated just like any other flea infestation. Remove the infested bedding and discard and vacuum or clean the area. Spray the hen house floor and bird resting area with the insecticide, paying special attention to cracks and crevices. Be sure to treat outdoor areas where the birds frequent, paying special attention to moist shady areas and areas where the birds may rest or spend more time. Tengard would be a great choice for this type of application because it can be used on poultry and in poultry houses and offers a long lasting residual. Adding an insect growth regulator such as Martin IGR will help stop the breeding cycle of the fleas and help eliminate a flea infestation faster. Pyganic dust can also be used in cracks and crevices and on the poultry to help eliminate the flea population. Demize EC is an excellent product but it is not labeled for use in poultry houses.

Can I use Tengard SFR on tomatoes to get rid of aphids? If so when will it be safe to eat the tomatoes?
Most of the tomatoes at this stage are still green.

No, Tengard SFR cannot be used on tomatoes at any stage. We do carry two insecticides that can be used on tomatoes for aphids, Cyonara Lawn, Yard and Garden spray and Malathion 57%.

Tengard SFR is labeled for wasps. You would use 1 2/3 fl oz of Tengard SFR per gallon of water to make a 0.5% solution to eliminate wasps. We usually recommend using a wettable powder formulation such as Cyper WP for wasp control. Wettable Powders stay up on the surface of porous materials making the product readily available to insects. Neither of these products will offer an immediate knockdown of wasps. The wasps must land on the area that has been sprayed and then have time to succumb to the effects of the insecticide. For an immediate knockdown, use Wasp Freeze to spray the wasps directly. For best results, and to lessen the chances of being stung, treat wasps nests very late in the evening or very early in the morning when the wasps are less active.

I know Termidor SC is the best, but I have pets and those two will not hurt pets when dried. I found termites next to my house, and I checked for termite damage. There was no damage. so they must have just started.

Termidor SC will not hurt animals when it is dry. As a matter of fact, Termidor SC contains the same active ingredient, Fipronil, as the most popular spot on flea treatments for dogs on the market. We recommend using either Termidor SC or Dominion 2L for the most effective termite treatments. Both of those products are non-repellent and both have a transfer effect meaning that the termites cannot tell that the product is in place and will readily walk through it and transfer it back to the colony. Both the Tengard SFR and the Bifen IT will work pretty much the exact same way since they are both synthetic pyrethroids that are somewhat repellent. Neither of these products have a transfer effect.

We would really need to know what type of pest your are trying to eliminate and what type of area you are treating to tell you the best product to use. In most cases, it is not necessary to treat the an entire piece of land to get rid of a specific insect pest, but instead treat the target area where the specific insect pest harbors or forages.

We are looking to get rid of the ticks and chiggers in a 50 acre grassy area. There is going to be a lot of foot traffic and pets in the area. We are starting to develop the land from pasture into a home and work area.

Tengard SFR would be a great choice for your needs. You will want to concentrate on areas where you have dense brush and long/tall growth. It is also helpful to keep grass and brush cut short to eliminate the habitat of ticks and chiggers.

Is Tengard SFR really safe to use around cats?
I've read that permethrin is toxic to cats. Is this only if the product is used directly on them? Can they get sick by coming into contact with permethrin after it has dried? My concern is the cats (and dogs) will possibly get some on their paws and lick them, causing them to get sick. I'm also concerned if I spray the grass and they eat it. What is the difference between Tengard SFR and Permethrin SFR?

Most synthetic pyrethroids can be toxic to cats if they are applied directly to them or if they are allowed to walk on treated areas before they are dry. That being said, most cats do not have an issue being in a home that has been treated with a permethrin (as long as they stay out of the treated area until it is dry). Most treatments are limited to cracks and crevices indoors, limiting a pets exposure. Also, once the product has been diluted with water there is a very minute amount of the actual insecticide that will be available, usually just enough to kill a very tiny insect, not enough to have any effect what so ever on a mammal of any size. Permethrin used to cause a lot of problems when it was diluted with oil because the application would stay wet and available to the animals. In most cases today, the permethrin is diluted with water, which of course dries very quickly. Permethrin products are used in homes with cats everyday across the country.

I applied tengard sfr as per instructions,10 days ago ,I just found live termites .How long does it take to kill them.

Since Tengard SFR only kills the termites that actually come into contact with treated areas it is possible that you will see live termites from time to time. Once the termites come into contact with treated areas they will usually die within a day or two.

Unfortunately once the beetles have already infested the bark of a peach tree there are not any viable treatment options. In cases of infestation the general recommendation is to simply protect the surrounding trees with preventative sprays with permethrin products. We do not have any access to Dursban or Thiodan.

Ticks can be a bit harder to control because they have a habit of staying in one place for a long time which of course can be a problem when the place they are sitting is not a treated area. Tengard is only labeled to eliminate mosquitoes inside barns or animal holding facilities. For outdoor mosquito control Talstar P is our most popular product. The key is to mosquito control is to apply the selected product to all shrubs, trees, and other foliage around the house or patio where you are trying to provide relief. Sprays should be directed not only on top of the leaves and plants, but on the underside of the leaves as well which is where the mosquitoes hang out. Talstar should be applied every 30 days for optimum control.

Fleas are most likely not resistant to the chemicals like Tengard that you are using. Flea elimination can take several weeks and it is normal to keep seeing fleas even after the initial spray. Flea eggs and pupa are protected from all of the insecticides that you can use and they will not be exposed to the application until they reach the adult flea stage. Once the adult fleas are exposed to the application they will usually die within 24 hours. You should only treat once every 14 days and continue to vacuum every day. It is also very important to treat all pets and all outside areas where pets frequent to avoid reintroducing fleas to the indoor areas.

Tengard SFR cannot be used in a residential home as a fogging application. Vector Ban Plus can be used in residential homes in a cold/mechanical fogger (do not use in a thermal fogger).
