The Tomahawk Small Snake Trap with Extension Wings is a funneling snake trap for snakes that are intended for relocation. It has an adjustable funnel opening. With this trap, it is easy and safer for a snake to only enter, so it will not be able to come back out once it has started entering the trap. Once the snake starts to enter, it usually will just continue to enter until it coils up because it is hard for it to go backwards and may hurt it. This trap features a powder-coated finish which provides additional solar heat, making it more inviting to snakes. It comes with two extension wings which help steer snakes into the trap. The back door is detatchable with a welded-on sheet metal plate for easier release and extra protection during removal of the rear door lock.

I have not caught the snake living in our box bushes yet but once he is caught this trap seems like it will be easy to relocate him. It looks just as pictured. I'd imagine bait may help with the catching efforts on my part but otherwise happy with the purchase.

Since snakes only eat live prey there really isn’t a way to use a live bait in the trap as it could escape. The Tomahawk Small Snake Trap with Extension Wings - Model 460 has features that make it attractive to snakes on its own. Just be sure to place it along a wall or the edge of a garden.

Nest in my basement easy access.
Per the manufacturer the Tomahawk Snake Trap with Extension Wings - Model 460 would not hold small snakes. A better option they recommend is the Tomahawk Repeating Plastic Snake Trap Model 465

The Tomahawk Small Snake Trap with Extension Wings - Model 460T will fit multiple snakes at a time, as snakes will coil and don’t mind laying on top of one another. It’s hard to guess exactly how many snakes would fit because of the variance in snakes but it will hold at least 5 snakes of any size that can fit through the opening.
