What insecticide should Bifen IT be rotated with when targeting Springtails to avoid resistance?

Answer:

Temprid FX would recommended for a rotation insecticide if you’ve been using a bifenthrin active ingredient insecticide for some time to target Springtails. Please refer to the Temprid FX product label for more information and application rates.

Dusting wall voids, around windows, doors, plumbing/pipes, along baseboards, etc with Cimexa Dust is an additional treatment we would recommend to target insects as they access the home through cracks and crevices. This will last for 10 years in undisturbed areas.

Please view additional tips for Springtail Control below and our Springtail Treatment Guide for more information. Additional tips to reduce attractiveness of Springtails to your home include:

- Check weep screens and holes for excess moisture and use insecticide dusts in those crevices
- Rake back, reduce/thin, and turn any mulch, pinestraw, or other ground cover material around the home. These items keep a ton of moisture on the soil and within their materials which provides an ideal living space for springtails.
-Treat monthly with an insecticide like Bifen IT or Temprid FX under and in mulch bed areas as well as around the foundation of the home
-Trim back branches of bushes or trees that may touch the home
-If where they appear most frequently is a shaded side of the home, see if you can trim back tree branches that may contribute to excess shade during the day, that way sunlight can help dry out the soil
-Core aerate your lawn each spring to help with soil compaction and excess water holding in the yard
