Why aren't rats eating this bait, there's no other food source or water, but they are just not eating any
My neighbours cat spends a lot of time in my garden, so am relying on non poisons, e. G Rat x, but it's just not working, if you can't mix with other food, how do you get them to eat it.
Answer:
Just like people, rodents and animals need food and water daily to survive. I can assure you that if they are still healthy and alive and running around that they are 100% getting food and water from somewhere in the environment. Whether its from your garden, something underground, acorns from trees, or a variety of other resources they would naturally survive on throughout the year when you aren't baiting. There is not a way to force a rodent to eat something they do not want anymore than you could do so to a human. If you use baits without a secondary poisoning risk such as Fastrac Blox or Fastrac Soft Bait inside secured bait stations around the property, you would be able to control the rodents with a stronger bait and without risk of the cat being impacted. A popular bait station and Fastrac combo we have together in a kit would be a great choice for your situation and you can view it here: Protecta Sidekick Station with Fastrac Blox. There is still no guarantee with any bait that you put out that the rodent is going to go to it immediately or like it over whatever they are already feeding on currently. However a bait like the Fastrac would at least give you an option with more attractive ingredients and smells within it that are more common to what they would feed on. Keep in mind that rodents are cautious of new things and it can take a few weeks for rodents to go to bait placements in stations or places you put them.
