How Advance Cockroach Gel Bait Works

Advance Cockroach Gel Bait combines a unique bait matrix with the active ingredient Dinotefuran. Dinotefuran is a newer non-repellent active ingredient that the EPA has granted Reduced Risk status for public health use. Dinotefuran is part of the insecticide class neonicotinoids, neuro-active insecticides that are modeled after nicotine. Dinotefuran is a central nervous system inhibitor that takes effect after insects ingest it.

The effects of the active ingredient are slow enough that roaches who have consumed Advance Cockroach Gel Bait will come in contact with other roaches and transfer the active ingredient, either directly or indirectly through feeding on feces or poisoned carcasses. There is no known pest resistance to dinotefuran.

Target Pests

Roaches

PESTS CONTROLLED: Cockroaches. Bait does not exclude any species.

Target Uses

Advance Cockroach Gel Bait can be used for virtually any roach infestation when a gel bait is desired. The active ingredient dinotefuran is especially helpful for roach populations that have developed resistance to older or more popular baits. The formulation of Advance Gel also has a lighter color than many other popular gel baits, making it a better choice for applications where staining may be of concern. Advance has an extremely broad label and can be used even in very sensitive situations, especially when sprays are either prohibited or undesirable.

Gel baits are not ideal for preventative measures as they may attract roaches that were otherwise not in the area. Be sure to eliminate competing food and water sources for best results.

ACTIVE INGREDIENT: Dinotefuran 0.5%

Application Instructions

Use Advance Cockroach Gel Bait as a spot or crack and crevice treatment where roach activity is observed.

SPOT TREATMENT:
• To apply gel, remove cap from tip of applicator tube.
• Apply gel in a 3 - 6 mm diameter spot (0.25 - 0.50 g). Approximately 10 spots per 100 sq. ft. are recommended for use under conditions with low to moderate infestation. For more severe infestations, approximately 20 spots per 100 sq. ft. are recommended.
• Apply many spots in areas of roach traffic and suspected harborage.
• Numerous small application spots are preferable to fewer larger application spots.
• Do not treat food preparation surfaces. Do not apply gel to areas that have been recently sprayed with insecticide. Do not spray insecticide products over gel placements as this may make gel repellent and reduce its effectiveness.
• Reapply if gel placements are no longer visible and/or re-infestation occurs.
• Replace cap when finished dispensing gel.

CRACK & CREVICE TREATMENT:
This product can be applied as spots or as a line along cracks and crevices. Gel bait should be applied directly into cracks and crevices where insects hide. Place the applicator tip directly into cracks and crevices and deposit gel in small spots or in a continuous bead. Bait should be in the void area and not on open or exposed surfaces.

Always read the product label completely before use.

Each box of 4 x 30g tubes yields approximately 120 bait placements. Each box includes 4 x 1.058 oz. tubes, plus injector syringes and application tips.

Standard Application Rates:

*10 spots per 100 sq. ft. – Low to moderate infestations

*20 spots per 100 sq. ft. – Severe infestations

*Use 3-6mm (1/8 – ¼”) diameter spots (0.25 – 0.50 g)

For use in the following areas:

Commercial, Institutional and Warehousing Establishments (including computer facilities, food/feed processing plants, hospitals, hotels, laboratories, motels, nursing homes, pet shops, restaurants, schools, sewers, supermarkets, warehouses and zoos), Residences and Transportation Equipment (aircraft, buses, boats/ships and trains)

Indoors-

Exact placement should be based on a complete monitoring and inspection. See our Indoor Roach Control Guide for images and more details. Applications should focus on cracks and crevices in areas where activity has been observed or is likely, such as near water sources, around pipe collars, where utilities enter, around or under appliances, underneath counters, where cupboard frames meet the wall, along drawer slides, along baseboards, doorframes, and windowsills. If using residual sprays, do not use sprays and baits in the same places: keep sprays in low areas on or near the floor and use baits in higher locations.

Food Handling Establishments: Application is limited to cracks and crevices where insects hide. Use applications rates above. Bait should not be used in open areas or on surfaces where contamination of food or food handling equipment may occur. Reapply bait as needed.

Aircraft: Application within passenger areas of aircraft is limited to Crack & Crevice treatment only. Apply Advance in areas between elements of constructions (such as areas under sinks, openings around pipes, under shelving, where shelving meets other shelves or the wall, area between and around microwaves, where support braces attach to the main structure and where seats are attached to the floor.) Apply 10-20 spots per 100 sq. ft. as described above. Do not apply bait to areas that are routinely washed such as cracks and crevices in tops of tables, food preparation and food holding surfaces as bait may be removed by washing. Care should be taken to avoid depositing gel onto exposed surfaces. Do not apply any bait in cockpit area.

Outdoors-

Use for control of cockroaches. Inject into cracks and crevices around windows and doors, porches, screens, eaves, patios, garages, under stairways and other areas adjacent to structures where cockroaches may find harborage. Environmental stresses such as direct sunlight and water will reduce the residual effectiveness, so apply bait in protected areas whenever possible.

*Do not place treatments in locations where routine cleaning might remove bait or transfer bait to food or food preparation surfaces.

*Apply bait away from air currents to prevent drying. Avoid placement on paper, cardboard, or other porous surfaces such as unsealed concrete.

*Sanitation should always be the top priority when treating for roaches! See our Roach Control page for more information.

*Good programs rotate baits to avoid resistance. Change baits every few months or alternate with different bait (and different active ingredients) for best results.

    Advance works

    By Dexter on 04/10/2010

I'm an exterminator and have tried many products and methods to treat for roaches, specifically German Cockroaches. This gel bait will eliminate your roaches within a week. My customers dread having to remove all of their belongings from cabinets and rooms for roach treatment, and I have found spraying for roaches obsolete after seeing how well this stuff works. I have personally cleared out a huge infestation in an apartment using this gel bait in cracks and crevices only and it took 1 thorough treatment and a follow up treatment, so that's 2 weeks and the roaches were ALL gone.

    An answer to prayer!

    By Gwen on 08/17/2012

    Verified Purchase

Only those who have been held hostage by roaches can appreciate what it feels like to walk into your kitchen without dread. I had tried EVERYTHING short of hiring an expensive exterminator when I googled "best roach killer" and this time Advanced popped up. I ordered it on Thursday night and was SO happy and surprised when it arrived Saturday. THIS STUFF WORKS! I re-watched the video and applied as instructed. On Sunday morning I quietly entered the kitchen yanked open doors and drawers and...nothing. Monday...nothing. Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday....NOTHING! I don't know where they went, but Advance got them the heck out of here! Now I can reopen my home to family and friends. Thanks Advance!

    Boy this works great!

    By Debbie on 05/25/2008

I had a severe infestation. I've tried everything, boy this Advance roach gel bait works great. I left the used cartage around too so whoever didn't eat what I put everywhere finished off with that.

    Best Roach Killer Ever!

    By Robyn on 07/15/2011

    Verified Purchase

I bought this as an exterminator friend recommended it. We moved to the southwest and roaches was new thing for us. Many here just accept it as a part of life down here. Our house was infested! I am not joking about infestation. They were in every room of our home that we bought even the bedrooms. I couldn't sleep at night for fear they would crawl on me while we slept. Nothing we had used in the past worked but after the first application we had dead roaches everywhere. It has been about a week since we treated and we are only seeing a few baby roaches and we still have tubes left. We plan on applying more tonight. I actually wonder where all the roaches went since it cleared out almost 99% of them already. I am only seeing a few oriental roaches now rather than both german and oriental. This stuff has me sold. I will only use this product in the future if needed. Thanks Advance for giving me a good nights rest! Also DoMyOwnPestControl was great about processing and shipping my order so we had it within days. I would recommend purchasing from them, I know I will for all my future pest control orders.

Q
How safe is Advance Cockroach Gel Bait for children and pets?
A

Advance Cockroach Bait Gel is very safe to use around children and pets as long as you apply it according to the instructions.  Of course, you would not want to place it where children or pets could easily access it.  This gel is often used in schools and day cares instead of sprays because historically gel baits are much safer than other products.

Q
How long does the Advance Cockroach Gel Bait product stay soft as a gel?
A
How long a gel bait stays soft depends on where you place it.  If you place the gel outside or on concrete or cardboard which soaks up moisture, it will only stay soft for a couple days at best.  If you place it indoors in one of our bait stations for gel, then you can usually get about a week out of it.  However, just because the bait hardens does not mean it is not effective.  Roaches will eat hardened bait for up to 3 months after it is applied.

Q
Would I be inviting more cockroaches into my condo?

I have lived in my condo for 18 months and have never seen a cockroach or any sign of cockroaches, until last night I saw one in my bathroom. Guessing it came in from a vent or drain. If we don't have an "infestation" would we be creating one with a gel that would attract them?

A
If you don't actually have an infestation of roaches it would be better to skip the roach bait which could indeed draw them in. Instead consider using a good insecticide such as D-Force Aerosol sprayed all around the cracks and crevices of window frames, door frames, baseboards and places where cables pipes or wires enter through the walls.

Q
Why is Advance Cockroach Gel Bait discontinued?

Please let me know if this new Alpine works.

A

The Advance Cockroach Gel Bait has been renamed and re-packaged as Alpine Cockroach Gel Bait Rotation 2. It is designed to be used in rotation with Alpine Cockroach Gel Bait Rotation 1 to prevent bait aversion, a common problem when the same bait is used on a roach population for an extended time.

Q
How many boxes of Advance Cockroach Gel Bait do I need for 4 bedrooms and 2 baths?

I live in a mobile home and money is tight. It has 4 bedrooms and 2 baths I heard that this is good and want to get it but is 1 box going to be enough for my home

A
Without knowing how big the infestation is, it is impossible for us to say how much bait you might need. One box is definitely enough to get you started. We would also recommend you use an Insect Growth regulator to stop the breeding process while you are trying get rid of the roaches (Insect growth regulators are like birth control for roaches). Gentrol IGR would be a good choice and you will only need one 1 fl oz bottle. You will need a sprayer to dilute and apply this product.
