Q
What is recommended for killing grasshoppers in Florida?

These grasshoppers eat all vegetation and keep multiplying each year so need to stop them when they emerge in March, what do you recommend

A

Routine pest control treatments will help with overall insect control and provide preventative benefits before seasonal insects develop. We always recommend to consult with your local County Extension Office for specific timing recommendations as this can vary from region to region.

Using a liquid insecticide concentrate such as Demand CS to treat the exterior periemter foundation as well as a foliar spray application to bushes, trees, shrubs and ornamentals. Per the product label, mix at 0.4 to 0.8 fl oz per gallon of water using a handpump or backpacks sprayer.

Aloft LC G Granular Insecticide would be a great dual mode of action insecticide granule that provides a quick knockdown and long lasting residual for listed insects. Apply as a perimeter band around the foundation or broadcast application to lawn. Apply at 1.8 to 3.6lbs per 1000 sq ft (80-160lbs per acre) prior to when insect activity is expected. Multiple applications may be applied as long as the maximum rate of 3.6lbs per 1000 sq ft (180lbs per acre) are not exceeded. View the full product label for more information.
