    Q
Does Bifen help with keeping moles away??
    A

Bifen is not used to control moles. This product is an insecticide that will control lawn infesting pest like ants, roaches, crickets, worms, caterpillars, ticks, etc. The best way to control moles is with a product specifically labeled for them, such as Talpirid Mole Worms, or Giant Destroyer Gassers. You can review all of the available options on our Mole Control page. Please let us know if you have any questions.

    Q
I have a baseball field to spray for fire ants. What rate do you use Bifen IT at and how much to cover approx. two acres?
    A

The best control will be achieved by using broadcast treatments in combination with mound drenches when using Bifen IT. This will control present colonies along with foraging workers and newly mated fly-in queens. It is critical either to use high volume treatments or to irrigate prior to application if the soil is dry. Apply 1 fl. oz. per 1,000 square feet when using broadcast treatments. For mound drenches, dilute 1 teaspoon of Bifen I/T per gallon of water and use 1 to 2 gallons of finished dilution using sufficient force to penetrate the top and allow dilution to flood ant channels. Treat a four foot diameter around each ant mound. Application should be made in late evening or early morning when it is cooler (65

  • Asked by Macy from Goldsboro, Nc
    02/18/2017
    Q
Can Bifen IT be used on the inside of the house for termites?
    A

Bifen IT is labeled to treat active infestations inside as directed on the product label but would only kill those termites that actively make contact with a treated surface or are sprayed directly.  If you are dealing with subterranean termites, you want to use a product that has a "tranfer-kill" effect. Termidor SC is a great product to use to treat termites and prevention, or Termidor Foam for active only, both of which are non repellent and transfer back to the colony below ground. Please see our Termite Control Page. Scroll to the bottom of the page and find information on identification and treatment for termites.

    Q
How do I apply it to my lawn for Japanese Beetle grubs, and how much?
    A

Bifen IT is not labeled for treating grubs. We do carry several products that are labeled for grubs including Adonis 2F, Merit Granules, Milky Spore and Dylox. Please take a few moments to review our treatment article on How to Get Rid of Grubs for a successful eradication program.

    Q
What respirator for fogging Bifen IT?
Backpack sprayer application of Bifen it. What respirator to use?
    A

Bifen IT cannot be used in any type of fogging application. When using in a backpack sprayer you can use a respirator like the Comfo Classic but generally it is not needed unless you cannot get to fresh free flowing area.  A standard N95 mask is the basic recommendation.

    Q
Are there any reasons not to use bifenthrin on St Augustine lawns?
    A

We are not aware of any issues with using a bifenthrin product on St Augustine.  This active is known for being super gentle on plants, so it should not harm it when used as directed on the product label.

    Q
What is the difference between bifenthrin and Bifenazate?
I'm trying to figure out which products I should use in rotation for spider mites. What is the difference between Bifenthrin and Bifenazate? Are they safe to use in a pesticide rotation one after the other or are they basically the same?
    A

Bifenthrin and Bifenazate are used to treat different types of insects. Bifenthrin is mainly for general pest control use and is an ingredient in products such as Talstar P and Bifen IT.  Bifenazate is a type of miticide and is an ingredient in products such as Floramite SC and Sirocco Miticide. We would not recommend rotating these two products for mite control. Bifenazate is a good active ingredient for spider mites, as well as Abamectin, which is the active ingredient in Avid 0.15 EC.

    Q
Can you mix Bifen IT with Mosquito Barrier for an effective monthly treatment??
I typically use Mosquito Barrier for my business, but if I could add some of this in with the Mosquito Barrier I think the Bifen IT can make up for some of the shortcomings of Mosquito Barrier (particularly rainfall).
    A

While you could tank mix the two, the Mosquito Barrier is going to work against the effectiveness of the Bifen I/T for probably at least the first week or two. You are spraying Bifen on surfaces moquitoes would land on and harbor in so that when they touch the treated surface they pick it up on their bodies and die from it. If you are spraying Mosquito Barrier you are using it to repel the mosquitoes away from areas you dont want them or are trying to keep them from harboring. So essentially by mixing the two together, you are repelling the mosquitoes away from the Bifen I/T so it would not affect them. Outside of an initial contact kill the mosquito barrier isn't going to provide killing action for you long term, only repellency. Bifen is actually the better product to use on a consistent basis in main target areas on the property where mosquitoes would be found, and use the Mosquito Barrier around patios and other "hangout" areas to keep them at bay until they have died from landing on the Bifen-treated surfaces.

  • Asked by Marcelo from Cumming, Ga

    Q
How much does 96oz of Bifen IT cover for flea and tick treatment on bermuda grass?
    A

The 96 oz of Bifen IT will make 96 to 192 gallons giving you a coverage of 4 acres. But, please keep in mind that the Bifen alone will not eradicate fleas. You will also need to mix in an IGR to break down the reproductive cycle. Bifen kills the adults that come in contact with it, but then you still have the immature fleas growing and then reproducing. It is a constant battle without the IGR. We recommend Nyguard as an additive to the Bifen and it will last up to 7 months.

    Q
Can I safely mix Bifen IT with Cyzmic CS?
    A

Bifen IT and Cyzmic CS should not be mixed together. It is not necessary to apply two synthetic pyrethroids in the same area. It will not improve results.

    Q
How does Bifen IT compare to Temprid SC as an overall broadcast spray?
    A

It depends on where you need to treat.  Bifen IT and Temprid SC are similar as both contain a synthetic pyrethroid. Both are labeled for indoor and outdoor use, but Temprid SC is not labeled for turf and ornamental treatment.  Bifen IT is labeled for lawn and ornamental use, and can be used on trees, plants, bushes and shrubs for all sorts of ornamental pests. They are both great insecticides and can be alternated to avoid resistance.

    Q
Can I use Taurus SC or Termidor Foam after I've already sprayed Bifen in a wall for termites?
I've sprayed a lot of Bifen in walls where termites are present . I have ordere Taurus SC from your company . I hav lots of holes drilled in walls . Can I spray Termidor foam in those same holes ?? I have just read Bifen is a repellent . Hav I messed up spraying Bifen in the walls ?
    A

If you have already sprayed bifenthrin, then we would advise waiting at least 30 days to apply a non-repellent such as Taurus or Termidor Foam. The Bifen will have a faster kill than the non-repellents, so it does not offer the same transfer effect and would over-power either of these insecticides if applied in the same area. In the future, it is best to spot treat active infestations with non-repellents whenever possible.

    Q
Can I use Bifen IT around my cattle who have just calved?
    A

Bifen I/T can be used around cattle except in areas where they will be grazing.  All animals need to be kept out of the area during application and until everything is fully dry.  Once the area is dry, the animals can safely return.

    Q
    Will Bifen IT kill wasps?
    A

Yes, Bifen IT is labeled to treat for wasps, but it is not an instant knockdown. You woud apply to nests in late evening when these pests are at rest. Spray nests, entrances to nests and surrounding area thoroughly. Retreat if signs of renewed activity exist. You may want to consider our Wasp and Hornet Kit which contains the residual insecticide Cyzmic CS, plus Wasp-X to kill insects very quickly where you see nests.
