Bonide Boric Acid Roach Powder is meant to be applied in cracks and crevices, underneath appliances and inside wall voids. If you apply it correctly and in these types of areas it will not be accessible for your pets and children to come in contact with but it will be in the places that bugs like to hide. You do not have to remove the pets and children while you are treating, but it would be a good idea to have them in a different room while you are applying the dust. However, you are most likely experiencing a resurgence of roach activity because you have not used a IGR (insect growth regulator). If you are seeing smaller, nymph roaches, then you are dealing with a subsequent generation of roaches. IGR's are chemicals such as hydroprene and methoprene, that disrupt and impede the life cycle of insects in the egg and larvae stage of development. The idea with an IGR is that if an insect cannot reach adulthood, it cannot reproduce. In short, IGR is a form of “birth control” for pests which helps keep the populations of unwanted pests under control by preventing current and future infestations. Gentrol Point Source would be a great option for you! Gentrol Point Source is a special Roach control device that contains hydroprene for 90-day control of roaches. Activating Gentrol Point Source is as simple as squeezing the raised end of the plastic, adhesive-back device. This releases Gentrol IGR onto a filter paper. From there, it moves up to 75 square feet, damaging adult roaches and preventing them from reproducing. Make sure to place these disk up high in the room so that the vapor has the ability to move throughout the room, as the vapor is heavier than air.
