It would be best to dethatch the lawn before applying a pre-emergent like Dimension 2EW to a lawn so that the product can make better contact with the soil to create the barrier, and so that the barrier is not disturbed as it would be if you applied then dethatched.
We would not recommend using Dimension 2EW Herbicide in areas where runoff could occur. This could be harmful to aquatic organisms. We generally recommend not spraying when it is windy out so the product will not drift.Â
Unfortunately, since Dallisgrass is closely related to Tall Fescue, generally what kills one will kill the other.
