    Q
Can Gentrol Point Source be used within 3 feet of the stove top?
The instructions say to keep the discs at least 3 feet away from exposed food. Can a disc be placed on the wall behind a stove used for cooking? I've noticed pest activity on the wall behind the stove. I'd like to place a disc there, so that the IGR can seep down behind the stove. However, if I place a disc on the wall, and then cook on the stove top, the disc would be within 3 feet of the food being cooked. Under these circumstances, does placing a disc on the wall pose any health hazards?
    A

Gentrol Point Source may be used in your kitchen. Exposed food would be fruit or vegetables that are kept on counters and not sealed in a container. You will use 1 disc per 75 sq ft of the room being treated therefore this allows options for disc placement that ahere with the 3ft away from exposed food recommendation per the product label.

Please review the product label for more information about this product.

    Q
Will using a roach fogger/roach bomb in my home affect the Gentrol Point Source Discs?
I put the gentrol source on the ground and I'm wondering if me bombing my house will cause any damages or make the product not work anymore and I have to put down new ones
    A

Fogging/Bombing homes for roaches typically is not the most effective method to eliminating a roach infestation as these products will only kill roaches that are out at the same time as the fogger is going off. They do not leave a residual effective to transfer back to the colony. The only time fogging would be recommended for roach treatments would be if you are seeing high numbers of roaches and want knockdown of the initial population before following up with proper roach treatment program such as one of our Roach Control Kits.

While fogging would not harm the Gentrol Point Source stations you already have out, it would be recommended to remove any discs while fogging/bombing. Also, when using the Gentrol Point Source, these discs are more effective when placed up high as the vapor it releases is slightly heavier than air, and higher up placements such as the side of upper cabinets above/behind the fridge, etc will help the product disperse through the area better to reach more of the population. While 1 or 2 down low is fine, to get the most from the product you would not want to place many down on the floor.

Each one of our Roach Control Kits includes the top professional grade products for roaches including a non-staining, low odor concentrated insecticide, a roach bait gel and the Gentrol Pointe Source Discs with enough for roughly 3-4 treatments.

View our Roach Control Kits and Roach Treatment Guide for detailed information and tutorial videos.

    Q
My discs have been rained on, will they still function?
    A
If the Gentrol Point Source discs were in their box and rained on then they should be fine to use, because they don't activate until you squeeze the raised end of the plastic, adhesive-back device. This releases Gentrol IGR onto a filter paper.

    Q
Are the contents inside the vial of the Gentrol Point Source supposed to be dry or liquid?
After the vial is cracked, is there supposed to be a liquid that spreads to the cloth? If not, and a rattling sound is heard while the disk is shaken (sounds dry), does it mean that it's ineffective? You mentioned that it has a shelf life of about 1 year. How would I know that I'm not provided an old batch upon ordering?
    A

The Gentrol Point Source should have a visible liquid that spreads through the trap once activated. You should be able to see it go over the paper in the trap. If you are experiencing any issues, please let us know the lot number of the box that you received, and we will report this to the manufacturer and move forward with a solution for you.

Is there an expiration date on the box of Gentrol?
I need to know if the box of gentrol I purchase has already outlived it's shelf life. They seem to have nothing in the breakable tube.
    A

The Gentrol Point Source Stations when unused will have a shelf of at least a year or so. Once activated, each station will continue to give out the growth inhibiting vapor for 3 months before each station would need to be replaced.

    Q
Should I put one inside every cabinet and beside or under every major appliance?
    A

No, one Gentrol Point Source will cover about 75 square feet. We recommend placing the discs up high like on top of cabinets or the fridge so the product can get airflow to help it move through the room being treated.

Living in a camper van with a dog
Florida is roach-infested. Very common to infest cars and houses. My van is approximately 20x8 feet. I don't have a fridge or cooler etc in here. They're eating strange things and not human/ animal food. My dog and I sleep in here and she's in here while I work. Is this small space safe for her in a small space? Appears I only need 1, not 30! You don't have a smaller kit? There are at least 3 different types of roaches in here and they avoid bate. Only sticky traps help

    Q
Where is the best placement for a small pantry?
I have bins of onions, potatoes, and garlic in my pantry. I'm concerned about the three-foot rule. Can I place it outside the pantry and leave the door open most of the time? I have weevils.
    A

Gentrol Point Source may be used in your kitchen. Exposed food is food that is out in the open and is not sealed in a container. You will keep the device itself a minimum of 3 feet away from any exposed food. Otherwise, I would recommend using it in other areas such as on the wall beside the fridge or maybe behind the toilet.

    Q
Can Advion Roach Bait Gel and Gentrol Point Source be used to treat for a couple roaches that I've seen that have migrated from neighboring yards.
    A

If seeing current roach activity indoors, using a combination of residual insecticide like Temprid FX along with Advion Roach Bait Gel along with Gentrol Point Source is the most effective way to treat roach activity before it turns into an infestation. We recommend also treating the exterior perimeter foundaiton of the home with a residual insecticide as well as doing exclusion, cleaning out landscape beds, trimming bushes, shrubs, trees back off the side of the house, etc. For a successful program, check out our guide/videos here

    Q
Do point source stations have an odor?
This seems like the product I need as I inherited a piano infested with roaches. If I place a station on the inside of a piano will the airflow release toxic fumes in the air that can damage our lungs? Or is the station odor-free? and only toxic when touched?
    A

Per the SDSGentrol Point Source stations have a faint odor. Gentrol Point Source never be used to eliminate a roach population by itself. Gentrol will not kill roaches...it only prevents them from reproducing.

    Q
    Gentrol concentrate vs point source
I used gentrol concentrate mixed with Talstar P along baseboards and behind appliances. I also sprayed the aerosol in tight spaces under the sink and between cracks in the kitchen. But 12 days later I am still seeing roaches and baby roaches at that, inside cabinets and drawers. Should I also get the point source to put in the cabinets and drawers?
    A

Yes, we recommend you use Gentrol Point Source stations should be placed in specific areas of activity which may include cabinets, closets, pantries, drawers, refuse areas, electrical boxes, equipment, false ceilings, and around doors, expansion joints, pipe chases, dressers, windows, heating and air conditioning ducts, refrigerators, and voids where pests are active.  After activation, each station will remain active for up to 90 days. For easy maintenance, each station has a diagram where the month activated can be marked. The IGR helps to keep target insect populations under control, which is especially useful in areas where conventional sprays and foggers are not appropriate or where baits are less effective due to competing food sources. Gentrol Point Source helps to achieve more rapid results than using adulticides alone since surviving insects are not able to re-establish the population.

    Q
I manage an office scape environment with acoustically suspended ceilings. I am confronted seasonally
With confused flour beetle. Might Gentrol be preemptive?
    A

Gentrol Point Source works by damaging adult insects listed on the label, including stored product pests like confused flour beetles, and preventing them from reproducing.  Although it would not prevent confused flour beetles altogether, if you currently had adult confused flour beetles within 75 square feet of a disc placement, it would work to prevent them from reproducing.

    Q
Is Gentrol point source ready to use right from the box?
    A

To activate Gentrol Point Source, press firmly between thumb and forefinger on the pouch located on the side of the device, until a snapping sound is heard indicating that the contents of the Gentrol capsule have been released. Place the device in any orientation (vertical or horizontal). Do not place in areas accessible to children. Place the Gentrol Point Source in areas where roach or SPP activity has been observed. For vertical placement of Gentrol Point Source Stations, expose the sticky surface by removing the paper backing and pressing the device firmly in place.

    Q
Is there a purpose for baiting these devices?
I have seen while doing follow-up visits at pest-control customers and have seen baits on them. Is this even needed? I watched the YouTube video and from what I can gather when the monitor/trap is snapped it is activated. I am old school and always used Catchmaster insect monitor and trap which could use a lure for insects especially roaches.
    A

Gentrol Point source contains hydroprene, which is a biorational Insect growth regulator (IGR). This disrupts the life cycle of certain insects in the egg and larvae stages of development, essentially making it a type of birth control for insects and preventing them from reproducing. Pests do not need to contact the device directly since the active ingredient can treat up to 75 square feet. On the other hand, the insect monitors usually come in a plastic or cardboard base covered with a very sticky, glue-like substance which will trap the insect and will not be able to extricate themselves while the IGR will not kill the adult stages of the insects.

    Q
Does Gentrol work on multiple species of roaches?
I live in a farmhouse in a field. Seasonally, we get random bouts of different bugs, including roaches. Anything from wood, German, and American/water roaches show up. They seem to slowly be getting immune to the spray I've been using for years. We also have a 100-year-old house with a damp crawl space. It's like you won't see roaches for months, then suddenly there are all 3 kinds in your house, then they leave again and are replaced with spiders or crickets.
    A

Yes, Gentrol Point Source Stations will work on a variety of species of roaches. Gentrol will not kill roaches...it only prevents them from reproducing. Gentrol Point Source should never be used to eliminate a roach population by itself.

    Q
What are the steps to use my product when I order?
    A

Do not activate stations until ready to use.
Gentrol Point Source Stations will treat up to 75 square feet, but more stations may be used for heavy infestations or when many treatment areas are enclosed, such as in cabinets. Keep Gentrol Point Source device a minimum distance of 3 feet from exposed food in food-handling establishments.

    Q
My neighbor has tons of roaches and we have never seen but maybe1 or 2 the whole 5 years we lived here now in 1
We have only seen about 5of they were all big except 1 my neighbor has a bad infestation of roaches she sprayed and put some sort of powder down and now they are coming to visit us
    A

Gentrol Point Source should never be used to eliminate a roach population by itself.  Gentrol will not kill roaches...it only prevents them from reproducing.  You should use roach baits and roach sprays in conjunction with the Gentrol Point Source.

One of our roach control kits would be recommended for roach control. These professional kits includes non-staining, low odor concentrated insecticide for spraying the outside perimeter of the home and inside underneath appliances, behind cabinets, under toilets and sinks, etc. You'll also get Roach Bait Gel to help get rid of those roaches that like to hide. Baits can be applied up high in the kitchen in the corner of cabinets and in cracks and crevices in kitchens and bathrooms. The bait contains a slow-acting poison that attracts and kills feeding roaches, who also spread the bait to other roaches by contact or by sharing food. Finally, an Insect Growth Regulator is offered which will stop roaches from laying eggs, helping to halt the infestation. The combination of an IGR with roach bait is a highly effective roach control strategy that is widely used by pest control professionals. The insecticide must be applied with a 1 gallon pump sprayer.

    Q
Will Gentrol transfer from roach to roach?
    A

Gentrol Point Source does not have a transfer effect. This product contains a juvenile growth hormone mimic that retards the growth of certain insects making the pests unable to reproduce preventing future infestations and lowering the pest population. Please take a moment to review our Roach Control Guide here for more information and helpful tips on eradicating this pest.
