Can you please recommend a granular per-emergent herbicide for centipede grass in Alabama? I see several liquid options, but do not have the ability to spray my entire yard. A post emergent for centipede spot treatment would be great as well. Read Full Answer »Hi-Yield Turf & Ornamental Weed and Grass Stopper contains Dimension pre-emergent which provides superior control of crabgrass as well as control or suppression of other listed weeds when applied before they germinate. This will also provide post-emergent control of crabgrass only and is effective on crabgrass up to 4 weeks after it has germinated and emerged. For Warm-season grasses you will apply 3.5 - 9.2 lbs. per 1,000 sq. ft. Ferti-Lome Weed-Out Broadleaf Weed Control is a post-emergent only that will target broadleaf weeds. No, Hi-Yield Turf and Ornamental Weed and Grass Stopper is not labeled for use on puncture vine growth. We would recommend using Monterey Brush & Vine Control for puncture vine. You will use 1 fl. oz. per gallon of water.Â

I over seeded my lawn last fall and applied Tenacity to kill crabgrass and other weeds. Lawn this spring has no visible weeds, but some bare areas due to density of killed off weeds. Should I over seed again now, or wait until fall. If in fall, do I need to apply a pre-emergent/fertilizer now. FYI - We are having a late spring this year in western NY; forecast is for warmer days from here on out. Read Full Answer »When treating for crabgrass we would recommend that you use a product with Dithiopyr, like Hi-Yield Weed and Grass Stopper with Dimension. Use at a rate of 4.6 lbs per 1,000 sq ft in the state of New York. I would wait to overseed the lawn in the fall for your cool season grass. Crabgrass typically germinates when soil temperatures reach 62 degrees Fahrenheit at a depth of 1 or 2 inches. Crabgrass preventers should be applied when soil temperatures reach 50 to 55 degrees Fahrenheit. -

As long as the lawn is not drenched and there is no standing water Hi-Yield Weed and Grass Stopper with Dimension Herbicide could be applied to a wet lawn.Â

It can be hard to get rid of poa annua in lawns with a post emergent depending on what kind of turfgrass you may have.
