Somehow I lost the clear plastic top. I have 2 of these traps and I love them.AWe are glad to hear the trap is working for you though we apologize but are unaware if a replacement top is available for the Ketch-All Humane Live Multi Catch Mouse Trap w/Clear Lid. We would recommend checking with the manufacturer directly at 800-247-5062.

I've had catch and release traps before and they end up being messy sometimes. You can see the document on the product page or click on the Ketch All Instructions here. It is typically not recommended to wash the traps like you referenced as you are removing other rodent scents, pheromones, pee, etc that they may leave behind that would let other rodents know they have come there already. It is much harder to get rodents to enter traps that are sterile and new without any comfort smells to indicate safety when entering it. A bottle brush to clean out any loose debris and scrape things off the surface is the main tool suggested in the instruction guide.
