Good advice from the manufacturer: Check small pots more often that large ones, they dry out more quickly. Over watering rots the roots, so do not water too frequently. Out of season, most plants only need water once a week.
Works quite well so far, just got is a couple of weeks ago!
Thanks!

Using this to gauge the amount of water in a potted plant is the only way I can be accurate about how dry soil is and when to water

I help water indoor church plants. We loved our Rapitest Mini Moisture Tester; so disappointed it came apart years later when dropped. We searched in town for a new tester; found two different brands; immediately returned both! We taped up the original tester; great for another year. So happy to find the Mini online! Great price, great shipping/delivery time. Highly recommend this Mini Tester!
How does the Luster Leaf Rapitest Mini Moisture Tester 1810 work? It didn't come with batteries. When will I know it is no longer accurate?

The Luster Leaf Rapitest Mini Moisture Tester 1810 does not require batteries. The product should be inserted into the soil next to the plant (not too closely) and it works off of the moisture in the soil. It will read the moisutre level and once the needle is stable, that will be the reading of the moisture level. Do not leave product in the soil. It should be used as needed only and promptly removed. You will know when the product is no longer effective when the needle no longer has movement.
