    Q
How effective is the Mosquito Control Kit - Professional using on a lawn with irrigation system?
If my lawn is scheduled to water everyday, how long would the chemical will last?
    A

The products in our Mosquito Control Kit - Professional should be applied when no rain is expected within 24 hours so the same applies with irrigation systems and watering.  For mosquitoes key is to apply to the underside of leaves on trees/bushes which is there the adults lay during the day, as well as shady areas.  You would not treat entire areas of the lawn that are in full sun as it is not habitable for them there.

You can apply Bifen and Tekko once a month.  Exciter is only a knockdown product that is used when you want to kill insects out in the open during application faster and can be used once every 7 days

    Q
If I kill a mosquito with the Mosquito Control Kit - Professional and a bird eats the mosquito, will the bird die?
    A

If a bird were to consume an insect killed by the Mosquito Control Kit - Professional it could potentially be harmful to the bird. It is highly unlikely since the amount of active ingredient is only large enough to kill small insects, but birds are very sensitive and there is a possibility. You can view the SDS for these products on our website here.

    Q
Will flood irrigation affect Mosquito Control Kit - Professional application?
We live in the desert southwest and we have flood irrigation every 2 weeks during the summer months. The water only stays in the yard for about 3 days before being soaked in or evaporated. Will the flood irrigation increase the frequency for treatment of the grass?
    A

When using Mosquito Control Kit - Professional to treat for mosquitoes, the grass really isn’t an aera that needs to be treated.  Mosquitoes don’t generally land in grasses, so there is no reason to treat that area.  The areas of application should be concentrated on cooler, shaded areas that the mosquitoes land on during the hottest part of the day to seek shelter from the heat.  This is the underside of tree canopies, the interiors of shrubs and bushes, under eaves and soffits, etc.  If these areas receive a lot of rainfall, an reapplication at around 21 days may be necessary.

    Q
Can the Mosquito Control Kit - Professional damage trees?
I've heard that some mosquito treatments can kill trees. Is this true?
    A

The Mosquito Control Kit - Professional is safe to apply to all non-edible plants. You want to be careful about making applications on flowering plants or during the heat of the day when plants are under more stress. The key with mosquito control is to apply to the underside of the leaves where the adults lay during the day. Please take a moment to review our How to Get Rid of Mosquitoes Guide for more information and helpful tips on eradicating this pest.

    Q
Can I use Mosquito Control Kit - Professional to treat for mosquitos with a backpack electrostatic sprayer?
    A

As long as the sprayer applies spray like a regular backpack sprayer or mistblower you can use the products in the Mosquito Control Kit - Professional. If it puts out sprays more like a fogging machine or ULV fogger, you cannot use it with the kit. We recommend contacting the backpack manufacturer to see what type of output the machine has.

    Q
Can the Mosquito Control Kit - Professional be applied to a lawn using a pull behind sprayer?
I need to treat an acre and a half and have a sprayer for my pre-emergent and broadleaf weed control that I would like to use for mosquito treatment.
    A

Yes, you could possibly use a pull-behind sprayer to apply the products in the Mosquito Control Kit – Professional. Keep in mind that for mosquitoes, the key is to apply to the underside of leaves on trees/bushes which is there the adults lay during the day, as well as shady areas.  You would not treat entire areas of the lawn that are in full sun as it is not habitable for them there.  For general insects you can treat the lawn though.

We have a guide here that explains as well.

    Q
If the Mosquito Control Kit - Professional products mist gets in the pool, is that dangerous for my kids?
    A

You should avoid getting the products (or drift) in the Mosquito Control Kit - Professional into swimming pools though small amounts that accidentally get in a pool will be so diluted that there shouldn't be any concern. It is highly recommended to cover the pool during the pest control applications (once per month).

    Q
Will the Mosquito Control Kit - Professional work on biting black flies?
    A

Unfortunately, there are no good answers for black fly because they are not attracted to fly traps or fly baits and there is no way to stop the larva from developing. You may want to check in with your local department of agriculture to see if they have any advice for you.

The insecticides (Bifen IT, Tekko Pro & ExciteR) in the Mosquito Control Kit - Professional may only provide partial control for black flies if applications are made where you see the flies land. The residual insecticide in the Mosquito Control Kit, Bifen IT however is labeled for biting flies, house flies, gnats, mosquitos, and many other insects. It is a great general purpose outdoor insecticide to use mixed at 1 fl oz per gallon of water per 1,000 sq ft. Please view the product label here for more information.

    Q
How should I clean my PPE after using the Mosquito Control Kit - Professional?
I'm thinking about using this kit, but I'm wondering how I should clean up my PPE. Any suggestions on how to clean clothing, gloves and especially boots since they are going to be soaked in this insecticide?
    A

According to the most restrictive product label in the Mosquito Control Kit – Professional:
Follow manufacturer’s instructions for cleaning/ maintaining PPE. If no such instructions for washables exist, use detergent and hot water. Keep and wash PPE separately from other laundry.

You should always remove PPE before entering living spaces or sitting on furniture, or use shoe covers if you must enter the home or other sensitive areas.

    Q
    Free Range Chickens
I have the Mosquito Control Kit - Professional and want to know if it's safe to let chickens free range on the area that have been treated?
    A
Mosquito control applications are not typically applied to the ground where chickens would be grazing since that is not where mosquitoes would primarily be found or harboring. You should be focusing the treatments with the Mosquito Control Kit Professional to areas of dense foliage on the property such as bushes, hedges, wooded areas, in overgrown plant areas or in ground covers such as Ivy or pinestraw, etc. Chickens will primarily be feeding on bugs and would not be impacted by any insects that could die from the insecticide should they eat them afterwards. The chickens would need to be removed from any treatment area while spraying and until everything has had time to dry completely. Should you need an alternative product if you want to spray the whole ground surface for general pests in that area, Essentria All Purpose could be used.
