    Q
What do I do if I sparayed Nyguard EZ1 on my cats as well as on bedding, etc.
I misunderstood the instructions and sprayed the cats as well as the carpets, bedding, furniture, floor etc. I'm using DE powder (Flea Away) to treat adult fleas -both on cats and around house. Also sprayed infected clothing.
    A

We would recommend contacting your vet immediately for the care of your cat as NyGuard IGR is not labeled for use on pets or people, nor clothing.  Wash all clothing and bedding thoroughly to help remove the residual and you may have to do so a few times to be sure it is removed.

    Q
My grandson has a pet snake in our house. Do we need to remove the snake when we apply Nyguard?
    A

It would be recommended to remove all animals, including snakes, from areas that you need to treat with NyGuard IGR.  They can return to the area once dry, a few hours would be best to be sure.

  • Asked by Traci from Conway

    Q
Is NyGuard IGR the correct product to use for bed bugs?
I was told by the bug man to purchase NyGuard IGR. We found bed bugs and he said it was foam.
    A

NyGuard IGR does not come in foam formulation and this IGR is not labeled for bed bugs. If bedbugs have been found in your home we recommend using one of our Bedbug Kits. These kits offer a combination of products for different locations in the home. Please take a few moments to review our treatment article on How to Get Rid of Bedbugs for tips on a successful eradication program.

  • Asked by William from Margate, Florida
    01/02/2020
    Q
What happens if I use a non-repellent and an IGR, such as NyGuard IGR, on roaches?
Why do they scatter if it is a flushing agent? Do NyGuard and Alpine WSG act like a flushing agent when mixed?
    A

NyGuard IGR and Alpine WSG are not considered flushing agents. Alpine WSG (water-soluble granule) is a non-pyrethroid, non-repellent broad-spectrum insecticide that uses the active ingredient Dinotefuran. NyGuard IGR is an Insect Growth Regulator which is like a kind of birth control for insects. It will stop the roaches from being able to reproduce and mature further into their lifecycles. The combination of an insecticide and an IGR is recommended when dealing with pests like roaches. Nyguard IGR can be added to Alpine WSG with no negative side effects. For more information on treating roaches, please review our article on How to Get Rid of Roaches for more helpful tips.

  • Asked by Burkin from Dallas
    01/17/2020
    Q
How long does NyGuard IGR residual last indoors? And does residual time decrease when mixed with a repellent?
I treat a lot of german roach problems. I read my labels.. But sometimes labels don't reflect results from the environment that you use them. So my question is, if I only use NyGuard IGR at a mix rate of 12ml/1gal in an apartment... How often should I re-apply?
    A

NyGuard IGR has a residual of up to 6 months when applied inside for roaches per the product label.  Adding an insecticide to an application does not change this.  Only if the treated areas was cleaned through mopping floor edges or steam cleaning/shampooing carpets would it be effected and not last as long.  Repeat application in 6 months or mre frequently if needed.  An IGR is not the only thing needed when treated roaches, please refer to our guide here for the best advice.

Hello I currently use actellic 50 ec actellic 50 ec to treat the rice mill im working at. We use it for weevils (rice weevil and red flour weevil) and moths (mediterranean). I want to now add nygaurd so that i can have a long term control. Also please indicate in your response how much nygaurd i should use per gal.

    A

NyGuard IGR and Pivot 10 contain the same active ingredient so are comparable, either can be mixed with insecticides like Bifen IT.

  • Asked by Ken from Alexandria, Va

    Q
Want to use NyGuard IGR for home drain fly problem?
What's the best way to use NyGuard IGR in addition to using drain cleaners for home drain fly problem
    A

If you are looking to use NyGuard IGR in your drains for drain flies, the product label states, "Foam Application: For the control of drain/fruit flies, combine Nyguard IGR at the rate of 4mL to 8 mL concentrate with 1 gallon of diluent. To convert this diluent to a foam, add foaming agent at the manufacturer's recommended rate. Using a professional foam applicator, apply finished foam to areas of fly breeding such as drains, traps of sink, bathtubs and in floor drains. For best results, foam should be applied thoroughly, ensuring all void areas and fly breeding material is treated. Follow the requirements of the foam equipment manufacturer."

If this type of application is not something you are willing to do you can use Gentrol Aerosol IGR in the drains instead.

    Q
What would be the best insecticide to mix with the NyGuard IGR
I'm trying to kill some American Cockroaches and I was curious what the best adulticide spray mixer would be with the NyGuard? Also what would the mix measurements be for them.
    A

Temprid FX Insecticide would be a good option to mix with Nyguard IGR for roaches as long as you are following the instructions on the product labels. You may mix 8-16mL of Temprid and 8-12mL of Nyguard into the same gallon of water to spray 1000 sq ft. Also, when treating indoors, we highly recommend incorporating a roach bait gel into your treatment plan. Please take a moment to review our Roach Control Guide for more information and helpful tips on eradicating this pest.

  • Asked by Victor from Pinole, california
    05/21/2021
    Q
I just sprayed NyGuard IGR 2 days ago and it lightly rained for about 10 days ago. Do I need to reapply?
    A

No, NyGuard IGR Concentrate is rainfast after about 6 hours therefore if it lightly rained 2 days later, the application should be fine. Typically, NyGuard IGR will hold up for a couple months in outdoor elements between treatments. IGR’s should be mixed with an insecticide for complete control of the insects as IGR’s only stop the reproductive cycle of insects, it does not kill them. The insecticide, depending on the product would need to be reapplied approx every 30 days. Refer to the insecticide product label for retreatment intervals.

  • Asked by Charles from Canyon Lake, Texas

    Q
What is the correct shelf life of NyGuard IGR? The NyGuard IGR Bulletin states "12 months closed in original packaging" but other Q&A's from DoMyOwn state 3 years.
    A

We have confirmed with MGK, the manufacturer of NyGuard IGR that the correct shelf life is 3 years when stored in the original container out of the extreme heat or freezing temperatures. MGK has advised they had an error on that bulletin and will get it updated as well.
