Information About Ladybugs:
USE: Ladybugs love to eat aphids and can eat up to 50 in a day. They feed only on insects and cause no harm to vegetation.
RECOMMENDATIONS: Ladybugs should be placed in a refrigerator ranging in temperatures from 35-40 degrees. Those received from March through May should not be stored more than 2 to 3 days. After May, they can be stored 2 or 3 months. It is not uncommon to find dead bugs inside the container. We have included extra bugs for this reason.
LIFECYCLE: Ladybugs mate in the spring and lay clusters of 10 to 50 yellow eggs on the underside of leaves. Around 5 to 7 days, the larvae will emerge as adults and will eat around 400 aphids during their 2.5 week cycle. In the summer and fall, they migrate into mountains and lie dormant throughout the winter months. In the early spring, they resume feeding on aphids, insects, and pollen.
These bugs have been fed a special diet and should continue feeding immediately. Feeding slows down their natural ability to fly when released.
