Read Full Answer »The first thing you need to know when using an herbicide such as Pendulum is that the exact amount of water you dilute it with is not important. It is only important to make sure you are using the correct amount of product per 1,000 sq ft of lawn. Use too much and you risk damaging your lawn, use too little and you will not get adequate results. You will need to use 1.3 - 1.8 oz of Pendulum per 1,000 sq ft of lawn. To decide how much water you want to use, you should mark a 1,000 sq ft area, fill your sprayer with water ONLY, and start walking and spraying just as if you were doing the actual application of herbicide. When you are done walking and spraying the 1,000 sq ft area note how much water it took you to spray that area, and that is the amount you will want to mix 1.3-1.8 oz of product with for each 1,000 sq ft area that needs to be treated. You will need to make sure treated areas are irrigated with at least 1/2 inch of water (either by rainfall or by sprinkler) following the application. -

We do have one herbicide that can be used in vegetable gardens, Fertilome Over the Top II (be sure the vegetables you are growing are listed on the product label before use) however, it is not labeled for purslane. Unfortunately, weed control in vegetable gardens is beyond our expertise. We recommend that you contact your local cooperative extension office and ask to speak to the master gardener on staff to receive more information on weed control in a vegetable garden.

I have used blue dyes in the past and really can't see it. Green dye would be even worse.AThe yellow in the product is not meant to be a marker, it is just the color of the active ingredient. We are not sure if it is sufficient for you to see on the grass it self. Sorry we could not be of more help!

I want something to control it or kill it without hurting my bermuda.AYou can use a pre emergent called Pendulum 3.3 EC which is labeled to treat Johnson grass in Bermuda. Please follow the product labeld for application. You can also use a post emergent called Celsius.

I read that in October you should apply a 2-in-1 herbicide on st augustine grass. I was wondering if pendulum fits the bill?APendulum is a pre-emergent weed killer only. We are not sure what they mean by 2-in1 unless they mean a product that includes a fertilizer perhaps?

As an alternative, we sell Pendulum AquaCap which is a newer formulation with the same active ingredient that is water-based, easier to mix and use and does not contain the yellowing agent. The AquaCap is a newer product with different technology to prevent the staining so the research put into developing it has caused the higher price. -

Pendulum 3.3 EC and Pendulum 2G both have the potential to stain yellow. We recommend using Pendulum Aquacap which does not contain the yellow agent in it.

Pendulum 3.3 EC - 2.5 Gallon is labeled for non-crop land. We would not recommend to use a pre emergent in edible crops areas. Pre emergents will stay in the soil too long. You can how ever use Round Up Quik pro to spot treat. Please let us know if you have any more questions.

If you have powdery, dry, or light sandy soil that is favorable to wind errosion the soil surface should be settled by rainfall or irrigation prior to application. The efficacy of Pendulum 3.3 EC will be greatly improved if the application is follow by half an inch of rainfall or irrigation.

Pre-emergents are unique since they only prevent weeds from germinating unlike post-emergents which kill the actively growing weeds which is why the primarily have a maximum per year rates.
