These products should not be mixed together. There is no valid reason to mix PermaCap Cs and Talstar P together. Talstar P is a synthetic pyrethroid and PermaCap CS already contains a synthetic pyrethroid, so there would be nothing to gain by mixing these products together. Making a pesticide too strong can actually backfire. Areas that are treated with this overly concentrated spray will be repellent and insects will simply avoid the treated areas prolonging the infestation. If you want to make one of these products have a little extra oomph you can mix a natural pyrethrin with it such as Exciter. Exciter will give you a fast knockdown of pests that are present at the time of the application and the Talstar P or Permacap CS will give you a lasting residual.

Is PermaCap CS good for outdoor mosquito control?
I am looking for a product to use for outdoor mosquito control. I want to apply it with a backpack powered blower. Is this a good product for that application, or do you suggest something else?

Talstar is our most popular selling product for mosquito control. It is a liquid concentrate that you mix with water and apply using a sprayer. You will need about 1 oz of product for every 1,000 sq ft of space you need to treat. The key is to apply it to all shrubs, trees, and other foliage around the house or patio where you are trying to provide relief. It should be directed not only on top of the leaves and plants, but on the underside of the leaves as well which is where the mosquitoes hang out. Talstar should be applied every 30 days for optimum control.

Is PermaCap CS a good product for mosquito control?
I realize you recommend Talstar more, but I am seeking a longer residual than Talstar and wonder if the micro encapsulated property of PermaCap makes it a better option for longer residual? What would the dilution ratio be for mosquito control? What is the risk to cats once the product is dry?

PermaCap CS is labeled to eradicate mosquitoes and is safe for pets when dry. You will mix 2 2/3 oz per gallon of water for the application.

Tick problem :(
My dog was infested with ticks, I had her treated, bombed the house, had my yard professionally treated and I am using the Permacap inside. I have sprayed from 2 feet on floor from baseboards all the way up the wall to the ceiling in every room in my house. It has been a little over 2 weeks since my first initial treatment and second was 4 days after the first ( .5 dilution), but I am still vacuuming up ticks. Any advice on what to do other then shaving my dog and setting my house and yard on fire to get rid of them.

What is best to use in open, concrete block barn with horses to control flying insects (flies, mosquitoes)
Barn is concrete block but very open in design. Could spray outside,inside stall walls & tops of walls and underside of roof/overhang. Would like to have residual effect, not just knockdown. Can remove horses until it dries, but horses definitely rub and touch walls. Thanks.

Your best bet for controlling the Argentine ants by a lake would be to use ant baits placed in ant bait stations. Advance 375A Ant Bait Granules and Gourmet Liquid ant bait can be used in the Ant No More Bait Stations. By using two different kinds of bait at once you can be sure you are offering at least one bait that they will readily accept. The Ant No More bait station will help protect the baits from non-target animals, weather and will prevent the bait from entering the lake. Around your home you could apply Termidor. Please be aware of run off areas.

PermaCap CS is not labeled to treat Emerald Ash Borers. Dominion 2L is labeled to use on trees to help protect against boring beetles. Treatments should begin in May or June and should be done every year to protect trees from the Emerald Ash Borers. Most people use a 5 gallon bucket or a large watering can to apply Dominion as a soil drench. You will need 0.1 to 0.2 fl. oz. (3 to 6 mL) of Dominion 2L per inch of trunk diameter for trees. It is recommended that you use the higher rate for boring beetles. The amount of water that is used will vary depending on soil conditions and volumes that are easy for applicators to use. The minimum amount of water that should be used is 1 pint per inch of trunk diameter for trees but you may use 1 quart -1 gallon of water per inch of trunk diameter for trees. Denser soils such as clay do not accept water as readily, so the lower volume of water is suggested. Since sandy soils can accept more water, using the higher volume of water is preferred. After the soil drench has been applied, you should water it in with at east 1/2 inch of water. Note: Water simply acts as a carrier and it is important that even distribution of the product is achieved. Thus, more water may be used if the applicator feels runoff will not occur and proper penetration of the root zone is achieved. Insecticides applied to the soil are taken up by the roots and trans-located throughout the tree or shrub. Root/soil drenches offer the advantage of requiring no special equipment to apply (other than a bucket or watering can). However, surface layers of organic matter, such as mulch or leaf litter, can bind the insecticide and reduce uptake. Before applying drenches, it is important to remove or pull back any mulch or dead leaves so the insecticide solution is poured directly on the mineral soil. It is also important to keep the soil around the tree or shrub moist for the next 10-14 days after applications to encourage uptake.

A better product to mix with either product would be ExciteR Insecticide which is a natural pyrethrin and PBO product for quick knockdown as you are spraying.

How long can I keep a Permacap solution once it is mixed with water?
In some cases, we don't use all the solution we have prepared. If it is stored in a cool and dark place, how long will it last for until its efficacy declines? Also, once a bottle of Permacap is opened how long will it be good for? Thanks

Once PermaCap CS (Controlled Release Permethrin) has been mixed, it should be used or discarded in 24 hours. The product does have a shelf life of 3-5 years if stored at room temp.
