"Black Flag" rat traps do not fit.

You may even consider a metal station such as JT Eaton STRONGBOX Metal Rat Bait Station 910TP. Or you may consider a bait with an antidote such as Contrac All-Weather Blox Rodenticide, which has an antidote in the case of accidental poisoning & less risk of secondary poisoning.

Do the mice stay inside and die?

No, they do not. The Aegis RP Rodent Bait Station is not a trap. Mice go inside to consume bait, but they are able to leave at any time.
