over priced roundup
By Ken in LAKE MARY, FL on 09/05/2011
I learned the hard way, tried to spray this on crabgrass in a st. Augustine lawn and works like roundup, killed everything it touched. Please bring back asulox somebody...
Expert response:
This product specifically says to not apply to St. Augustine grass, which is why it killed it. St. Augustine cannot handle a product like Drive XLR8.
Don't bother. Drive is out of gas!

I won't even give this stuff one (1) star. Not even half a star. I take pride in my yard but battle crab grass and other weeds because my neighbors don't take care of their yards, let that stuff grow,…

Horrible!!!!!!
By Oscar in Fresno, California on 02/15/2015
This product has not worked at all. I followed directions to the T, but about the only change I seen is a color change to weeds. I would not recommend purchasing this product.
Expert response:
It may take multiple applications to fully eradicate the weeds you are targeting. Also, if the plants are not actively growing, it may take many weeks for the active ingredient to translocate through the plant. We would be happy to discuss your situation over the phone at 866-581-7378 M-F 9a-5p EST.

We are sorry to hear the Drive was unable to perform due to drought! Unfortunately the stress of drought causes the plants not to be able to properly take up liquid which does indeed mean that herbicides cannot perform as needed.

Crabgrass Killer?
By Gregg in Lawrenceville, IL on 05/07/2013
One week out.....XLR8 seemed to somewhat retard crabgrass growth, but sure did not kill crabgrass. Worked fairly well on some leafy weeds. I think Trimec-Plus does a much better job at half the cost.

Expert response:
We are sorry to hear that the product did not work as expected and are happy to troubleshoot any issues. Drive is a very slow kill on crabgrass depending on the tiller stage of the crabgrass. It may take up to six weeks to completely control crabgrass and may require a repeat treatment. For consistent results, make Drive XLR8 application to newly germinated, to 1-tiller crabgrass, and when crabgrass has matured to 5 tillers or greater. When treating between the 2-4 tiller stage, repeat application may be required. If you treated during this time this would be where you see very slow results. To explain tiller stages we have a video here to review https://www.domyown.com/do-my-own-lawn-care-talking-tiller-stages-v-319.html Do you know what stage the crabgrass you treated on was? Was the bermuda just recently seeded or sodded? What are you seeing now and have you applied a repeat application? We appreciate your working with us to come to resolution and look forward to hearing from you!

Drive
By Ted in Greensboro on 08/09/2022
Have sprayed crabgrass three times still not dead has barley turnd colors 2 weeks later still the same
Expert response:
We apologize you did not achieve the intended results. Drive works best on young newly emerged weeds, more mature weeds may require repeat application, it can also take up to 6 weeks to completely kill weeds. Drive also requires the use of an MSO surfactant for best results. We would welcome the opportunity to troubleshoot the application to help get you the results you need. Please contact us at your earliest convenience!
