How Maxforce FC Magnum Works

Maxforce FC Magnum roach bait gel is the newest bait from Maxforce by Bayer. It has the same great active ingredient as the other Maxforce products - Fipronil. Only this time, you get five times the active ingredient, plus a new technology called ContactX that kills roaches even when they just touch the bait. Other roaches touch or eat the dead roach and spread the bait again, controlling the entire colony, even the roaches you can't see. For serious roach control, supplement your roach control program with Magnum.

The active ingredient Fipronil is in the Phenylpyrazole family of insecticides and is used in many products when a delayed kill is desired, such as ant and roach baits. Fipronil disrupts the insect central nervous system, causing hyperexcitation of nerves and muscles. Maxforce FC Magnum still has a delayed kill to allow bait to be passed to other roaches, but it moves more quickly than baits with less active ingredient for faster clean-out. Results will be evident as quickly as overnight (complete control will vary with level of infestation, overall sanitation, and other control methods used).

Target Pests

Most common roaches

PESTS CONTROLLED:

Cockroaches including American Roaches, Smoky Brown Roaches, Oriental Roaches, German Roaches, Brown Banded Roaches; Pantry pests including adult stages of beetles: cadelle, cigarette beetle, confused flour beetle, dermestid, drugstore beetle, flat grain beetle, granary weevil, lesser grain borer, lesser mealworm, mealworm, merchant grain beetle, red flour beetle, rice weevil, rusty grain beetle, saw-toothed grain beetle, spider beetle, or warehouse beetle

Target Uses of Maxforce FC Magnum

Use Maxforce FC Magnum as a crack and crevice or spot treatment for almost any roach infestation. Because Magnum has more active ingredient than other baits, it is ideal for heavy infestations, larger roaches, or more sensitive areas where other control methods such as sprays may be difficult. Maxforce FC Magnum stays effective up to a year after application, so it is also appropriate for quarterly or other maintenance programs in high-risk areas, such as apartments. Maxforce FC Magnum can also be used to control adult stages of many stored product beetles.

ACTIVE INGREDIENT: Fipronil 0.05%

Application Instructions

Use Maxforce FC Magnum as a spot or crack and crevice treatment for indoor and outdoor control of listed roaches and stored product pests. Application rate varies according to the level of infestation and species to be controlled. Apply gel as round spots or thin beads into cracks and crevices or as a spot treatment. Place bait close to cockroach harborages, foraging and feeding areas such as corners and cracks and crevices. Numerous smaller bait placements provide faster control than fewer larger placements. In cases of severe infestation and areas with excessive clutter or alternative food sources that cannot be eliminated, use the higher rate of application.

Pest population reduction will be apparent within 1 day for German roaches and 3-4 days for American roaches.

Prior to using, gel may need to be shaken well if any separation has occurred. Unscrew the black cap (or break off the tip) and replace with included open tip. After use, replace the black cap before storage.

Always read the product label completely before use.

Each 33 g tube yields approximately 33 bait placements and treats 11 to 44 square yards, depending on infestation.

Standard Application Rates

  • 0.75 g per square yard – maintenance programs for continuous control (will not provide fast control of existing infestations)
  • Up to 1.5 g per square yard – light to moderate infestations, retreatments
  • Up to 3.0 g per square yard – clean out of severe or heavy infestations
  • 1-2 g per square yard – large cockroaches such as American, Smoky-Brown, or Oriental
  • 0.1 g equals approx. ¼ in. diameter spot; 1.0 g equals approx. dime-sized spot

For use in the following areas:

Indoor and outdoor (adjacent to homes and structures) control in residential areas and the non-food/non-feed areas of institutional, warehousing and commercial establishments, including warehouses, restaurants, food processing plants, supermarkets, hospitals, nursing homes, motels, hotels, apartment buildings, bakeries, beverage plants, breweries, bottling facilities, candy plants, canneries, cereal processing and manufacturing plants, dairies and dairy product processing plants, frozen food plants, schools, laboratories, computer facilities, sewers, ”aircraft,“ buses, boats/ships, trains, homes, houses, industrial buildings, office buildings, kennels, kitchens, manufacturing facilities, spice plants, stores, wineries and similar structures, mausoleums, meat processing and packaging plants, meat and vegetable canneries, pet shops and zoos; food/feed areas of food/feed handling establishments

Indoors

Place bait under baseboards, sinks, countertops, seats, around water pipes, water heaters, dishwasher equipment, in crack and crevices as well as voids where insects harbor. Inspect bait placements and reapply as needed.

Stored Product Pests: After removing infested foodstuffs and cleaning up spilled foodstuffs and dust, applications of this product will kill adult stages of beetles remaining in area. Apply in voids, cracks and crevices, behind and under cupboards, and other difficult to reach areas where insects may hide. Application rate is dependent on level of infestation.

Food/Feed Handling Establishments: Apply only as a crack and crevice treatment in food/feed handling areas. Do not apply to areas that are routinely washed, exposed surfaces, or in ways that will contaminate food/feed, utensils or processing surfaces. Apply bait in small amounts between different elements of construction, between equipment and floors, openings leading into voids and hollow spaces in floors, walls, ceilings, equipment legs and bases, around plumbing pipes, doors and windows, behind and under refrigerators, cabinets, sinks, closets, stoves and other equipment where cockroaches hide. Inspect bait placements and reapply when necessary.

Outdoors

Place bait in areas adjacent to structures where large roaches may nest or breed. Apply bait to potential points of insect entry, such as eaves, sills, and expansion joints. Apply bait in protected areas whenever possible. Environmental stresses such as direct sunlight and water will reduce the residual effectiveness. Priority treatment areas may be identified by visual inspection of such areas listed above or aided by trapping techniques or spot flushing. Bait may also be applied in reusable bait stations to protect from weathering and contaminants.

Maxforce FC Magnum Features

  • Five times more active ingredient than other Maxforce baits.
  • 10% more bait in each tube.
  • ContactX technology kills roaches not just by ingestion, but also by contact.
  • Attractive to roaches up to a year if not contaminated.
  • No vapor, fumes, or odor.
  • See visible results overnight.
  • Low toxicity to people and pets, ready-to-use and easy to apply.

Extra Tips for Using Maxforce FC Magnum

  • Store out of extreme temperatures. Use within 2 years of purchase.
  • Do not use sprays, heavy detergents or cleaners near baits as this can make baits less attractive.
  • Sanitation should always be the top priority when treating for roaches! For more information on how to get rid of Roaches, see our Roach Control page.
  • Apply bait away from air currents to prevent drying. Avoid placement on paper, cardboard, or other porous surfaces such as unsealed concrete.
  • Good programs rotate baits to avoid resistance. Change baits every few months or alternate with different bait (and different active ingredients) for best results.
  • May stain textiles, fabrics, or porous surfaces.
  • Do not apply bait to areas where the temperature exceeds 130 degrees F as bait may run.
  • Apply bait using included plunger or with a bait gun such as the Maxforce Professional Bait Gun.

Only product that has worked for me

    By Derick on 07/28/2008

After trying several extermination methods to treat a major infestation, Maxforce FC Magnum is the only product that has worked. I would come out to the kitchen at night and find hundreds of German cockroaches having a party. After 3 days, the only roaches I've seen are belly up, twitching on the floor. If anything, the only problem with this product is that it kills them too fast.

Big results for a big problem.

    By Sonia on 01/14/2009

    Verified Purchase

This stuff really works! I bought Maxforce FC Magnum along with Roach Control Kit # 1 (which has the much needed birth control and gel bait) and the Maxforce 72 pack bait stations. The best $$ I've ever spent! I saw fewer roaches in 3 days, and none, yes none, in a week! I still do surprise spot checks at 2 AM in the kitchen & no more roach parties! The tubes are smaller than I expected but they pack a powerful punch.  Whatever you do, buy the birth control so they can't reproduce! Thanks to rep. "Philip"!

    This stuff is great!!!

    By Adrianne on 07/19/2010

Please understand that roaches can travel through clothes, bags, purses,or even cars.I had recently let two friends move with me. Their car was infested with roaches and the home that they were living in before moving with me. Well wouldn't you know that after a month of them staying with me. I began to see roaches. And I keep my home very clean. It started to really get on my nerves. I was furious to the point where they had to leave. But to make a long story short. I put this Maxforce down with in 8 days I didn't see one roach. This stuff in great. I would suggest if you have a house purchase about 4 tubes. If you have a apartment 2 tubes. This stuff is the best. I will purchase this again. Thank you so much

    Excellent product

    By Travis on 04/06/2009

    Verified Purchase

I had always considered myself a very clean person, but I live in a multi-unit apartment complex. A few weeks ago my kids started seeing little black bugs hanging around our 30 gallon fish aquarium. To my surprise they were baby German cockroaches. I flipped out! I started doing research on the Internet and came across this website. Maxforce FC Magnum seemed to be the one for me. Great price, easy to use, and excellent customer service. I used the product as directed, and at night you could see them eating it up. Three days later NO roaches at all. No roaches ANYWHERE!! Amazing product. Highly recommend.

Maxforce FC Magnum is excellent. It has worked each time I have used it. My only drawback is that I can't find it locally to buy it. I strongly recommend this. Buy it and you won't regret it. Good luck.

Q
Can I put Maxforce or Advion gel in bait plates on the ground after Temprid FX has dried?

Q
What is the difference between Maxforce FC Magnum & Advion Roach Bait? Is FC Magnum Stronger?

I've used Advion Roach Bait but wonder if the FC Magnum is stronger?

A

Maxforce FC Magnum contains the active ingredient Fipronil, and it contains 5 x more of the active ingredient than other roach bait gels with the same active ingredient. Maxforce FC Magnum has a great transfer effect throughout an active roach colony and often used when there are heavier roach infestations and for faster cleanout.

Please view our Roach Treatment Guide for more information.

Q
My bird had a little bit of Maxforce FC Magnum on his tongue. What should I do? Is this lethal?
A

We do not believe that this would be a problem for your bird as we have never had any reports of this being an issue but since some species of birds can be very sensitive to any chemical we recommend that you contact your veterinarian and check with them. Please view the product label and the MSDS that are located on the product page of the roach bait gel you selected so you will be able to see the active ingredient and provide this information to the vet.

Q
Is Maxforce FC Magnum an effective roach bait to use in rotation for active roaches? How long do I use a roach bait gel before rotating? Also should I use it together with any other chemicals like sprays/dust/etc?

Treating for heavy roach infestation and been cleaning thoroughly, placed food in containers, and avoid leaving out sources of water. I started with Advion Roach Bait, Avert Dry Flowable Roach Bait and also used Gentrol IGR but still still roaches after 2 months. I am seeing alot less than before but still seeing about 5/day. I read that it's a good idea to switch bait/insecticides to kill the resistant roaches.

A

Yes, rotating roach baits is recommended when treating for actve roach infestations to prevent any bait aversion or resistance. When treating for active roaches, you want to use a combination of residual insecticide, roach bait gel and an insect growth regulator. Repeat applications should be done every 14 days consistently until you are no longer seeing roaches. The length of the treatment can vary taking weeks to months depending on the level of infestation. It is recommended to rotate roach baits after 60-90 days. Our Roach Control Kits are set up to help with a Roach Treament Rotation Program. Roach Kit A uses the FC Magnum Roach Bait as this is a cleanout bait with a great transfer effect throughout a roach colony.

Please view our Roach Control Kits HERE and our Roach Treatment Guide for more information. We have a quick video on How to Apply Roach Control Kits to show how the products are applied.

Q
Can one use too much Maxforce FC Magnum?

I didnt research and laid down strips of it along the base where the roaches were. Is this ok or should I start over?

A

It is not recommended to overapply Maxforce FC Magnum. The product should be used according to the product label. The label states,

For light to moderate infestations (or for retreatments), use up to 1.5 grams of bait per square yard.
To clean out severe or heavy infestations, use up to 3.0 grams of bait per square yard.
Large cockroaches such as American, Smokey-Brown or Oriental: 1 to 2 grams of bait per square yard."

Was this answer helpful to you?  YesNo

Q
Can I use Maxforce FC Magnum after I've just applied Permethrin dust?
A

You would not apply the Maxforce FC Magnum in the same area as a dust as this would contaminate the bait and make is less attractive for the roaches.  Dusts are only for use around baseboards and in cracks and crevices, behind switch plates, electrical boxes etc.  Baits are placed higher up.

Gel cockroach bait and bait stations should be placed in the following areas for the best results:

  • Behind kitchen cabinets and counter tops
  • Behind wall hangings such as pictures, clocks, or posters
  • Behind, next to, and under the stove.
  • In the corners up under the sink and other cabinets.
  • In stored paper bags and boxes.
  • Around pipes, cords, and cables that come out of the wall.
  • Behind and under bathroom fixtures.
  • Behind the medicine cabinet and vanity.
  • In any cracks or crevices around shelves or wood
  • In corners and under railings and on drawers.

Q
Will Maxforce FC Magnum work on water bugs?
A

Yes, Maxforce FC Magnum is labeled for American roaches, which are typically called palmetto bugs or water bugs. Please take a few moments to review our treatment article and videos on How to Get Rid of Roaches for more helpful information.

Q
I have a 700 sq ft house with a severe roach problem. How many tubes of Maxforce FC Magnum do I need?
A

It is unlikely that just using Maxforce FC Magnum or any other bait gel on its own will eradicate a severe roach infestation.  We would recommend that you use one of our roach control kits, which include an insecticide spray and an insect growth regulator (IGR) in addition to a bait gel.  Please take a moment to look over our Roach Control Guide for more information on how to implement a successful treatment program.

Yes.  Additional plungers can be purchased on our site individually or in bags of 12.

Q
I bought Maxforce FC Magnum but it didn't work. What can I use instead?
A

Using Maxforce FC Magnum (or any other roach bait gel) on its own is unlikely to eradicate a roach infestation, especially if it is severe.  We would recommend implementing a complete roach treatment program, which includes using an insecticide spray and an insect growth regulator (IGR) along with a roach bait gel, as well as non-chemical methods like proper sanitation and removing potential food and water sources.  We normally suggest that you use one of our roach control kits to treat a roach infestation, so that you will have all of the necessary products.

Q
When do the roaches die after eating Maxforce FC Magnum?
A

Maxforce FC Magnum is not a contact kill type of product, so they will not die as soon as they touch it. It will start to work on their system and they will start getting weaker and dying within a few hours of contact.  However, please keep in mind that roaches are difficult to control, so it will likely take more than 5 days to see full results.  Moderate roach infestations can take a few weeks to get rid of, and severe infestations can take several months even when using all of the products needed (insecticide, IGR, roach bait), and sanitation is up to par. Please take a few moments to review our treatment article/videos on How to Get Rid of Roaches for a successful eradication program.

Q
Where are the best areas to apply Maxforce FC Magnum for roaches? Do I need to treat both on the inside and outside of my unit?

I either have cockroaches coming FROM my unit (via drains), or INTO my unit from outside...where should I bait? I'm worried that I might make the situation worse by unnecessarily attracting all of the roaches on the property into my unit. My complex property manager assumes the roaches are coming from the surrounding vacant units, but he is far from an expert and couldn't care less.

A

Baiting and sanitiation are key when treating for roaches. Maxforce FC Magnum is a clean out bait and can be applied indoors and outdoors. We would recommended using the Roach Control Kit A to treat your home inside and out. The kit contains all 3 products that are necessary to eradicate a roach infestation. You can also protect your unit by applying and insecticide dust in the wall voids that will last for up to 10 years.
