What should I bait the Mini T-rex mouse trap with for house mice?

A

You can bait the Mini T Rex traps with Provoke mouse attractant, small bits of cheese, nut meats, small pieces of string tied to the bait pedal or cotton balls with a bit of vanilla extract tied to the pedal. Be sure to place the Mini T Rex traps in areas where mouse activity has been observed.

Is the Mini T-Rex Mouse Trap effective for shrews?
I've been using the Victor professional mouse snap traps baited with a peanut butter/oatmeal/bacon grease mix UNDER the trigger in the 'V' to catch shrews. Has this form of trap been used to catch shrews as well? I've had one too many bar slip off the catch while setting!

You should place these traps exactly like you have placed your wooden traps and you will have success.

A mouse either lives in or gets into my bedroom and gets into bed between mattress and base.
It has brought in lice & other vermin. Have bought products from you to rid problems. Have had exterminator to get mouse but failed. Put glue traps around, & snap traps & bait packs, all failed. Sealed all cracks with steel wool. Have not been able to find spoor, but mouse get into room regularly & goes right for bed. Hear it run and jump onto bed base. Have not been able to determine entrance point. In addition to products from you have used peppermint oil, spice bouquets & rodent repellent. It's smarter and tougher than me. Please help, if you can.

It appears the mouse is likely nesting in the mattress itself or boxspring/base. Placing a snap trap in a shoebox to help disguise the trap should work fairly well in this case. You would place the box along the wall or an area that it would travel across. Also may try not setting the trap for a few days and just baiting and after 3 days or so, then setting it. This will hopefully make the mouse use to the box and unsuspecting when it is actually set.

I want to place this in between my dog houses so the dogs can't get it. I have about 2 to 3 inches.

Would the Mini T-Rex Mouse Trap be effective for chipmunks?
I dont have many issues with mice, but chipmunks are a problem. Would the T_rex Mini catch chipmunks? What is the best bait for chipmunks? I'm beyond the live trap, too much hassle, even my animal-loving wife feels the same!! Help!! Thanks

The Mini T-Rex Traps are not designed to capture chipmunks. We do not carry a specific poison that is labeled for them. The only option we have at this time is trapping them. Please see our Chipmunk trap page.

For inside the home we recommend using mouse traps or glue boards. The Mini T Rex Mouse Snap Trap is placed along baseboards or in a corner for best results. You can use nuts, nesting material like a small piece of cotton, or small amount of nutella in the trap for bait. Using a Mouse glue board such as Catchmaster Mouse and Insect Glue Board is an alternative and very common method. Place glue board near baseboards, corners, along walls, or in spaces where pests are likely to travel. Used either flat or folded into a covered trap, Catchmaster glue boards have no insecticides or rodenticides, and the 72MB has a peanut butter scent that acts as an attractant to mice. (This is a synthetic scent that contains no peanut allergens.) Glue will remain most effective in moderate temperatures, but not in direct sunlight or freezing temperatures.

Should I clean (wash) the trap after use?
I've read that mice like to go where other mice go. Will the scent of them being caught be a hindrance? Or, can I just fill the bait cups and place the traps?

The bait on my rat traps are being consumed and about 1/2 of them are not tripped. Could this be from mice?
We have lived in forest many years. new problem. Rodents mostly under house (so far). Not seen nor signs inside. bait + cheese and peanut butter. Caught many rats outside.

You should switch out your traps to mouse traps, such as the Mini T-Rex Mouse Trap or you could add some glue boards. My Mini T-Rex Mouse Trap are not tripping.
I've put peanut butter in the mini T-Rex traps and the mice eat the peanut butter clean out of them and the traps do not spring. Is there anyway to adjust the sensitivity on these traps?

A

As stated on our site, "Manufacturers recommendation: Do NOT use peanut butter in Mini T-Rex Mouse Trap as the oil in peanut butter can damage the trap." It is possible the traps are not tripping because they may have been damaged by the oil from the peanut butter.

Placed 4 Mini T-Rex Mouse Traps in areas along the top of the concrete foundation inside my garage and baited the 4 traps with peanut butter. Now, 2 months later, peanut butter is gone and traps were still wide open. Are these traps not sensitive enough or do you have any suggestions? I have seen night video of mice managing to eat bait from snaptraps without setting the trap off.

When using Snap Traps for rodent control, it can take some adjustments to get the best results as rodents are neophobic and have terrible eyesite, they navigate by sense of touch and sense of smell typically along the same runways. When a new object (snaptrap/glueboard) has been placed in their path, they can and most likely will avoid it since they cannot see it. Once they are used to the object being in the runway, they will become more comfortable and curious to the station. While Peanut Butter is commonly used to lure rodents, most manufacturers DO NOT recommend this as the oil from the food can damage the trap. We do have Rodent Lure Gel Bait that can be used. Snap traps should be placed where you see the most signs of rodent activity. Placing snap traps at a right angle with the mouth of the trap against the wall or place a pair of traps parallel to the wall, with the triggers positioned to intercept rodents traveling from either direction.
