    Q
How much TVC Total Vegetation Control do I need for 4,000 sq ft?
I am building a kennel and I do not want weeds growing in it. So I was hoping to use a soil sterilizer.
    A

You would use roughly just under 1 ounce per 1000 sq/ft in no less than 2 gallons of water. So you would need about 4 ounces in at least 8 gallons of water to cover your 4000 sq/ft.

    Q
What is a good pre-emergent spray for preventing weed growth in gravel driveways, patios and walkways?
I have around 4000 sq of gravel driveways, patios and walkways. You have a bewildering range of pre emergent products. Adjacent to these areas are fruit trees and blackberry bushes. I also have pasture areas with horses and cows adjacent to these areas. One corner of one pasture, about 500 sq, has thistles and some other pickly weed that I have not been able to identify. Any suggestions
    A

The best and longest-lasting pre-emergent herbicide to use around areas like gravel and patios where you do not want any plants to grow would be a vegetation management product like Martin's TVC Total Vegetation Management. This product will prevent any plant growth in those areas for up to 1 ye…

    Q
How long before the weeds die when using TVC Total Vegetation Control?
I applied TVC with a surfactant 6 days ago and I see no difference yet. They were short common lawn weeds along side my garage, which I cut down to under 2" first.
    A

The label recommends that you allow sufficient time for the grasses/weeds to recover after mowing before applying TVC Total Vegetation Control, meaning they work better at a longer height.  TVC is a systemic herbicide an…

  • Asked by Jones from Phoenix, Az

    Q
What is the best product to use over landscape rocks to keep grass and weeds away?
What do you recommend to keep grass and weeds away...I live in the Phoenix Desert area and I want to reduce grass and weed growth under landscaping Rock.....no plants to worry about killing. Need the best ground clear product?
    A

Using a vegetation management product like TVC or Pramitol would be best.  They will kill and prevent anything from growing in the area up to 1 year.  Be aware they should not be applied inside the dripline of any desirable plants and trees as they can kill these if the roots absorb the product.

  • Asked by Bob from Vineland, Nj
    05/10/2016
    Q
Is there a weed killer and something to prevent new growth in one product?
I've used 41% Glyphosate products before- And my question is this. I live in a mobile home in NJ where I'm surrounded by trees and woods. I use a 41% Glyphosate to kill existing weeds as my yard is 99% weeds. I need a product that stands up to a lot of rain as NJ gets about 50" a year. Plus a product that will STOP new growth. I'm older and cannot be outside doing tons of yard work for extended periods. I use your Bifen TS or Talstar P for pest control with generally good results, but need some help with weed control and something to stop re-growth.
    A

Glyphosate products will only kill existing plants that are contacted with the spray; it will not persist in the soil or prevent and new plant growth. For a pre-emergent herbicide, we would need to know some more information, such as what, specifically, you are trying to keep from growing, if there …

Trying to switch lawn from bermuda grass to desert landscaping. Would this product be a good choice?
After grass is gone and rock is down we will be planting desert flora and do not want it damaged.
    A

TVC is going to be a soil sterilizer which means it not only will kill anything growing that you spray it on (including your bermuda you want to get rid of) but it also creates a barrier in the soil preventing any new growth of plants in the soil as well including desert flora. If you are looking fo…
